Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Elizabeth Warren co-authored a Becker’s Health IT and CIO Review article called “Navigating a Data Breach: Balancing Legal and Communications Hurdles.”
Elizabeth and co-author Rebecca Ayer of Jarrard Phillips Cate & Hancock recommend that health systems react promptly and carefully. They wrote, “Once the incident is discovered, the team will need to focus immediately on stopping further non-permissible uses or disclosures (if possible) and gathering the facts, possibly in conjunction with a forensics data analysis firm.”
