Benchmark Litigation recently profiled the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group featuring an interview with practice chair Brant Phillips. Brant provided an historical overview of the firm and how it has used core strengths and market trends to make litigation a premier practice area. In the profile, Brant discussed how the firm now has a reputation as a “Tennessee powerhouse” with a national reach and scope of practice, noting that “While our roots are in Tennessee, our work takes us everywhere.” Brant also focused on the evolution of Nashville as a hub for the healthcare industry and how this focus has impacted the firm broadly and from a litigation-specific perspective.
Brant described how his practice generally falls into three categories: complex business and securities litigation, certificate of need requests, and administrative and regulatory proceedings. Brant highlighted a 2017-18 engagement in which he was hired to appeal a $19 million jury verdict levied against a Philadelphia-based healthcare company. A favorable opinion from the Tennessee court of appeals in July 2018 vacated the verdict. You can read more about that case here.
Brant’s full interview is available on the Benchmark Litigation website.
