Holden Branscum advises clients on the various tax planning issues related to business transactions and compensation matters. His practice focuses on the tax aspects of entity formations, reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, spin-offs, capital markets transactions, and venture capital and private equity investments. He also counsels clients on federal tax controversy matters.
Prior to joining Bass, Berry, & Sims, Holden was a tax associate in KPMG’s Washington National Tax office. He received an LL.M. in taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, a law degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business, and a B.A. in economics & business from Hendrix College. Holden also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Albert G. Lauber in the U.S. Tax Court and the Honorable Thomas L. Parker in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
