Jeanne Marie Evans focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions as well as regulatory, compliance and operational issues for healthcare companies. In both her healthcare regulatory and transactional work, Jeanne Marie counsels clients on federal healthcare fraud and abuse laws, such as the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law, as well as state laws related to licensure and the corporate practice of medicine. Jeanne Marie works with a range of the firm’s healthcare clients, including hospitals and health systems, physician practice management companies, specialty pharmacies, infusion companies, private equity firms, health plan providers, and others.
More specifically, Jeanne Marie’s practice involves:
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Joint Ventures – Assisting with the buying and selling of hospitals, specialty pharmacies, health plans, practice groups, other types of providers; advises on the structuring of syndications, joint ventures, physician integration models and strategic investment opportunities; conducts due diligence and analysis of healthcare joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, including assisting with analysis of overpayments, repayments and self-disclosures necessary in connection with transactions.
- Contracting, Regulatory and Operational Matters – Analysis and counseling on the various federal and state regulatory requirements and operational impacts in connection with day-to day operations of healthcare providers and suppliers; assisting with drafting and negotiation of contracts; and operational guidance on general operational and compliance inquiries.
Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Jeanne Marie was an associate at Kutak Rock LLP in Missouri where she provided regulatory guidance to healthcare clients. Jeanne Marie earned her law degree with a Certificate of Health Law from Saint Louis University School of Law and received a B.A. in history and communication studies from Loyola University of Chicago.
