Amy Roeder Norris is the Managing Director for the Corporate & Securities Practice Group at Bass, Berry & Sims. In this capacity, she works with firm and practice leadership on business development strategy, client relationship development, practice administration and other key initiatives for the corporate group.
Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Amy was the Senior Business Development Manager for McGuireWoods LLP where she led marketing and business development strategy, and directly built client relationships for the firm’s corporate practices – notably three priority and nationally-recognized practices – M&A, private equity and financial institutions.
Amy has more than 15 years of experience in the legal field, working on various award-winning marketing and business development initiatives. She was responsible for launching two industry-shifting initiatives: connecting independent sponsors with capital providers and bringing together women in private equity. Both were founded on the idea of selfless relationship building, or “giving to get” in an authentic, purposeful way. In addition to generating business, these two initiatives have been recognized by Financial Times Innovative Lawyers and Mergers & Acquisitions, which noted that these initiatives “expand beyond being a legal services provider to being a key industry player.” Most recently, Amy helped to develop the Bass, Berry & Sims’ OP Talent Network (OPT-N), a robust resource that connects healthcare-focused private equity funds with experienced operating partners.
Amy is a member of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) and has served in several key leadership positions throughout her career, including most recently International Board of Directors, Regional Leadership Committee, Chair (2019); Southeast Region (LMASE) Board of Directors – President (2018), and President-Elect and Regional Conference Chair (2017). She was a founding member of Dress for Success Charlotte’s Young Executives for Success (Y.E.S.!) branch, and she served as a Young Ambassador for the Council of Children’s Rights.
Amy received her B.S. in marketing management from Virginia Tech.
